M Countdown Episode 896
Mnet’s M Count (Episode 896) started off the early early weekend, Thursday, with one of the better music shows of the year, in terms of quantity and quality of the groups performing. It does look like a new strategy was set for 2025. Groups will drop music on Monday, skip Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s music shows, and start on M Count. Some groups will go on the second week, some will go the third week, and some will skip the early week shows altogether. First, Blingone, VIVIZ, and Somi dropped music on Monday, but today’s M Count is the first time that they’ve performed their song.
Next, HITGS, who debuted only three months ago but are already on their second comeback, performed their comeback “CHARIZZMA”. They dropped this song on Monday and this is the first time to perform it on a music show. But I can’t be too picky on them since they’ve put out three singles in three months, which gives them a two week break in between comebacks. VV, the only Chinese member, stood out for her long hair which is short in the mv.
Then, Baby DONT Cry continued their debut promotions and performed “F Girl”. They’re on their third week of promotions but this week is special where they’ve promoted on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s music shows, while continuing on M Count, this being their third time. All members stood out since they’re now experienced M Count. But, their leader, Yihyun, stood out a bit more while wearing some black fuzzy bracelets.
Next, Rescene continued their comeback and performed “Deja Vu”. In their second week of promotions, Rescene’s second time at M Count was more relaxed since it wasn’t the first time on a music show like last week. Minami, the only Japanese member, stood out due to her experience from the survival show “MTG”.
Then, ILLIT performed their B-side “Jellyous” for the first time on any music show. They looked good but I could notice small things amiss due to this being the first time performing this. Minju, the main vocal, stood out the most with her yellow outfit and sunglasses on the top of her head as an accessory. Also, they used her pic as the thumbnail for the yt video.
Next, Baby Monster, who are only six due to Rami being on hiatus due to health, performed their comeback “Hot Sauce” for the first time on M Count. Ahyeon, the center, stood out for her outfit of mostly red and a red handkerchief on her head. She also stood out for her rap.
Then, H1-KEY continued their comeback with “Summer Was You”. I have to give kudos to them for performing on every music show since dropping the song on Thursday, June 26, and performing on M Count the same day. Also, Riina, the lead vocalist, stood out due to her outfit being all pink whereas her other members had a grey skirt. She also stood out for her stage presence, gained from her experience on “Produce 48” and “Queendom Puzzle”. She also had a reunion of sorts with her former trainees at WM (I’ve included the yt video below).
Finally, Aespa continued their comeback and performed “Dirty Work”. All members, Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ning Ning, the maknae, stood out. Karina and Winter were the thumbnail of the video, Giselle got to wear sunglasses for half of the performance, and Ning Ning got to be the third to last ending fairy, giving us a double hand flap to ward off the heat. And Aespa won first place for “Dirty Work”!
