M Countdown Episode 894
Mnet’s M Countdown (Episode 894) started the early weekend, Thursday, off with a banger of a show due to the quantity and quality of groups performing. IS:SUE and KIOF performed during the show. Also, almost all groups that dropped music this week, skipped Tues and Wed music shows. This might be a new strategy and a setting of levels for nugu groups and other groups.
First, USPEER continued their debut promotions with their title track “ZOOM”. Yeowon, their leader, stood out because she was the only one in a yellow top. Also, Soee stood out with her black jacket and her final ending fairy, giving us a simple hair flip.
Next, VVUP performed their comeback track “Giddy Boy”. Kim, the only Indonesian member, stood out where they used her pic as the thumbnail and for being the only one wearing a white hoodie. Also, their strategy was to drop music on Friday, and then do music shows Fri to Sun, skipping M Countdown last week. So, this is their first time on M Countdown for this comeback.
Then, HEARTS2HEARTS performed their comeback “STYLE”. Jiwoo, the leader, stood out due to having blue feathers on the right side of her shirt. Also, she has a bob cut and looks like Kwangya, the AI villain in SM’s universe. Carmen, the only Indonesian member, stood out due to being the only one wearing a hat and getting the first ending fairy, with a double bite, then hearts on cheeks with a wink, and finally pulling her ponytail and winking again.
Next, H1-Key (pronounced Hi-Key) performed their comeback track “Summer was you”. All members, Seoi, Riina, Hwiseo, and Yel, stood out in summer outfits and a summer rocking song. Riina, the contestant from PD48, stood out a bit more since she was wearing red and she had two red tropical flowers on her top. And the ending fairy was all four of them fanning themselves!
Then, fromis_9 performed their comeback track “LIKE YOU BETTER”. For fromis_9, they have reformed as a five member group, JiHeon, ChaeYoung, NaGyung, HaYoung, and Jiwon. Jiwon, the leader, stood out a bit more due to her pink boots. They all were ending fairies but JiHeon stood out by being the first and giving us an over the shoulder wave and kiss. They also used her pic as the thumbnail which made the rocking song even better.
Next, Baby DONT Cry debuted with their title track “F Girl”, and their pre-debut track “Bet You’ll Regret It”. They even got the intro interview and intro before both performances. YiHyun stood out during the interview, and both performances for her musicality and stage presence.
Then ILLIT continued their comeback promotions of “Do the dance”. Yunah, the leader, stood out due to her dancing musicality. Also, Minju, the host of Friday’s music show, and Moka, one of the Japanese members, stood out for their stage presence. Moka even got the first ending fairy, acting like a cat.
Finally, izna performed their comeback “BEEP”. Bang Jeemin, their leader, stood out due to her bangs, since she didn’t have them on Tuesday’s music show. She transformed into Bang(s) Jeemin for this performance, reminding me of some of her performances on “RU Next”. I look forward to seeing her do dance collabs with Yunah, Minju, and now YoungSeo. Also, she was the special guest co-host of M Countdown and got to interview YoungSeo. The two of them and all five of ILLIT (Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha) were on “RU Next”, so I look forward to short form video collabs between all seven.
