M Countdown Episode 898
Mnet’s M Countdown (Episode 898) started off the mid-week, Wednesday, with one of the best music shows of the year due to the amount and quality of performances. Also, since Tuesday’s music show was a no show, Show Champion had to pull double duty as the appetizer of the Kpop music show week and the anchor of the mid-week. Also, it does look like a new strategy was set for 2025. Groups will drop music on Monday or Wednesday, skip Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s music shows, and start on Thursday or Friday’s music show. Some groups will go on the second week, some will go the third week, and some will skip the early week shows altogether. First, Jo Yuri showcased new music on Monday last week, skipped Tuesday and Wednesday both weeks, and now is starting her second week of promotions on M Count.
Next, HITGS continued their comeback and performed “CHARIZZMA”. VV, the only Chinese member, shined more due to her long hair, which she had in a bob cut in the video. And she’s the only one who wore green cargo pants. Also, VV and HITGS must be tired since they’ve been promoting for almost three months straight. Fighting HITGS!
Then, ILLIT continued their promotions of their B-side “jellyous” which has a very hard choreo. Moka, one of the two Japanese members, shined more with white pants, a white top, and purple sweater. Also, I think she has health issues so the choreo must be hard on her. Finally, she was the first ending fairy, twirling her hair and then giving us an air punch.
Next, STAYC had their second comeback this year and performed their title track “I WANT IT”. Isa shined the most, with her having the first singing lines. They also used her pic as the thumbnail. Finally, Isa was the first ending fairy who just fanned herself. STAYC dropped the music on Monday, skipped Wednesday, and started their comeback promotions on Thursday, M Count. Let’s see if this strategy works and helps the song chart for a longer period of time.
Finally, Purple Kiss performed their comeback “DOREMI”. Yuki, the only Japanese member, shined due to her singing even though she’s the rapper. Also, she was the only one with wavy black hair and the only one with black pants. Yuki was also in “Queendom Puzzle” where she reached the top 7 and got into ELZUP so her experience shines through.
