K Music Shows Core - M Countdown M2 Relay Dance

With M Countdown showing a highlights episode today, let’s discuss secondary shows. First, why do groups do so many music shows? Music show performances promote the song.

Also, it’s for the secondary videos. The secondary videos from K music shows are as important as the main video performances. Sometimes they’re on the same channel and sometimes they’re on a secondary channel

Thursday - Mnet’s M Countdown has a secondary channel called M2 (and other channels, 1theK, Studio Choom, etc.). It has individual fancams, full stage fancams, and special performance videos. For the fancams, they’re directly from the M Countdown show. With respect to the special performance videos on M2, there are Move to Performance, M2 Exclusive, Performance 37, and this article's focus, Relay Dance.

Relay dance is where the group lines up in a single file line with the first individual facing the camera. Then each individual does the choreo for a line and then rotates to the back. Then the next person goes. This gives a refreshing take to the choreo and some individuals will do a different part than they’re used to. Sometimes the folks in the back will dance on the side so it’ll look like three people dancing. People will pop out on the left side and/or right side and add little flourishes. Overall, Relay Dance gives groups a chance to show off a different organization of the dance performance. Instead of the same choreo that’s the same on all music shows, Relay Dance is the same choreo but performed in a new refreshing way.

A peek behind the scenes and you can see that they filmed on the same day as M Countdown since they have on the same outfits. Also, the previous backgrounds used to be black, but now they’re a pink and/or purple lighting against a white sound stage.
